Bio

Carey Haider is an artist/creator of blacktooth. He has shown all over the world; from Japan to the Netherlands. His beautiful disaster's come in an array of mediums (graphic design, photography, fine art, screenprint, etc) which solidify his talent and express the feeling and moment of his creation's existence. Carey say's 'I've never liked being placed into a genre or being held into a situation where I can't leave. When something is susposed to be done a certain way it turns me off and I'll do it opposite just to piss you off. I live for the moment and do what feels right. My life and my art is an experiment that im not even shure of the end product.' These touches of many mediums and procedures accent each other in a harmonic rythm. People often ask Carey what inspires him and his art. In order to properly understand his explanation you must understand Carey's childhood. He was born and raised in Portland for the first few years of his life. Shannon, Carey's father was an ex-biker while his mother was a rebellious Catholic school girl. The neighborhood in which they were raising Carey and his sister Shauna was filled with drugs and crime so they relocated to Gresham, Oregon. Carey's outside family is all drug addicts living on welfare with drug babies that are deformed. This alone has been his number one influence; disfunction and destruction. As Carey grew older he became largely influenced by punk and skateboarding. This brought the D.I.Y. attitude into his ever growing realm. As Carey explains 'Everything lives on a ballance of extremes. You have love and hate, beauty and decay, peace and war. I like to expoit both sides of the spectrum making you hate what your seeing no matter what side of the fence your on. Thinking is the first step to change. My art is my war and im not going to waste the chance to use it.
