Statement
My drawings occur in the intersection between pain and pleasure. The indisputable lovliness of green and purple flesh is made more acute when it blooms across the abused face of a beloved friend. Sex is equally indivisible from both rapture and fear. Therefore my work depicts the dichotomy inherent in intense experiences, without distinguishing between the terrible and the glorious.
I draw in a style that is acutely representational because each event depicted is unique. The gashed elbows, sweat-drenched sterna and tearstained swollen faces I compulsively document belong not to the world, but to a specific person who is dear to me, who was hurt in a specific instance, impelled by the singular and reckless personality I love.
