I was a child raised with many walks in the woods of upstate NY. Year round my grandparents would bring me and my brothers along with them into the wilderness, they would shoot photographs of all the life that the forest held and we were children with young eyes open wide taking it all in. The life within those deep forest really interested me and has been a part of me ever since. Now that i live in a city i can't help but to reflect upon those days where everything seemed so simple and so mysterious. It all is so overwhelming now. I really would like to live in a hut pieced together with found branches and other scrap wood and have all my friends and family live near me, not having anything to worry about besides making art and music almost like a tribe.
Recently i have been working with a lot of found material from wood to paper. It is nice to give things a chance to live on and become a piece of art not just a grocery list from last week or a window that was to drafty and tossed to the side of the road, there is just something about using things that have already been a part of something that makes it so interesting to work with and to piece back together. I have also really been into painting large murals and all sizes of framed pieces, either collages of drawings, paintings, random paper or water colors with pencil, basically how ever i feel the need to put out the ideas that come to me when my pencil or brush hit the surface. making art is fun and it is a part of everybody, live it and enjoy it.
