Sewing Circle with Marie Watt

if you live in or near Portland, Oregon and you are at a loss for what awesome thing you should choose to do today out of the many, many awesome things that there are to choose from, get on over to PDX gallery artist Marie Watt’s studio and participate in sharing stories, eating, and contributing to a piece that will be in the Portland Art Museum.
This is an opportunity to participate in community created artwork in the truest sense- you will be amazed at what can be accomplished when we get together and support each other in our creative pursuits! Both Watt and her work are very cool, and certainly there will be other interesting people there, and if you bring a friend, definitely someone you know. Go get involved! Go! GO!
If I didn’t have to work I’d most definitely be there.

Sewing Circle with Marie Watt
Hey there-
Once again I am holding another Sewing Circle. For those of you who are new to this tradition, basically this is an invitation to come and contribute stitches to a project. In this case, a piece that is being completed for the Contemporary NW Art Award at the Portland Art Museum exhibition in June. Why participate? Its a chance to eat well, socialize with interesting people (like yourself), and share some stories if you are inclined. I have to tell you that if I didn’t think it was fun, or if it didn’t work on its own terms, then it probably wouldn’t be having a come back.
Here are the facts:
Open to the community Sewing Circle on Friday, April 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
-This project requires a little bit of sewing experience and patience, but it is open to all
-I will feed you well (this is supposed to be a draw since we all need to eat)
-You can come and go as your schedule permits
-You should also feel free to invite a friend or share the info with your students
Many thanks for your consideration of this invitation in the midst of your busy schedules and lives.
Feel free to pass this on.
Warmly,
Marie, 503.806.0236
